Clinical Care (Inpatient & Emergency)
  • Perform comprehensive history taking and physical examination for pediatric patients (neonates to adolescents)
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic pediatric illnesses under consultant supervision
  • Provide initial stabilization of critically ill children
  • Participate in pediatric emergency care, including resuscitation and trauma management
  • Manage common pediatric conditions (respiratory, gastrointestinal, infectious, neurological, endocrine, etc.)
  • Neonatal & Nursery Care
  • Attend deliveries and perform neonatal resuscitation as per NRP guidelines
  • Assess and manage newborns in nursery/NICU (as per privilege level)
  • Monitor growth, feeding, jaundice, infections, and metabolic issues
  • Perform neonatal procedures (e.g., venous sampling, IV cannulation) Ward Management
  • Conduct daily ward rounds and document progress notes
  • Develop and update management plans in coordination with consultants
  • Monitor response to treatment and adjust plans accordingly
  • Ensure timely investigations and follow-up of results
  • Prepare patients for discharge and ensure continuity of care
  • Procedures (as Privileged)
  • Peripheral IV cannulation
  • Blood sampling and arterial/venous blood gases
  • Lumbar puncture (if credentialed)
  • Nasogastric tube insertion
  • Urinary catheterization
  • Advanced airway management
  • Assist in advanced procedures under supervision
  • Documentation & Communication
  • Complete accurate and timely medical records
  • Prepare admission notes, progress notes, discharge summaries, and referral letters
  • Use SBAR for handovers and interdepartmental communication
  • Communicate clearly with patients’ families regarding diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis
  • Emergency code
  • Respond to emergency codes (Code Blue, neonatal/pediatric resuscitation)
  • Escalate care appropriately to senior staff
  • Provide cross-coverage when required
  • Patient Safety & Quality
  • Adhere to hospital policies, infection control, and patient safety standards
  • Participate in clinical audits, incident reporting, and quality improvement activities
  • Ensure safe prescribing and medication reconciliation
